Neuer Wall (Town Center)

If you ask non-locals in Hamburg, where you can shop the most exclusively, you'll probabply get the answer "Mönckebergstraße". No wonder, the "Mö" is comparable with all the other famous shopping streets in Germany. But in Hamburg, there exists another special one.

Exclusive brands, brands, brands

The "Neuer Wall" is located near the Mönckebergstraße and it can compete in terms of exclusivity not only with the Mönckebergstraße. The "Neuer Wall" provides a density of designer shops and top brands like no other street in the City: Bally, Mont Blanc, Porsche Design, Louis Vuitton, Stefanel, Bulgari, Nespresso, Escada, Tiffany & co - just to mention a few. They have all found a home in the "Neuer Wall".

And the shopping street lives. Like hardly any other shopping street in the city, the road is constantly changing. Whether it's decoration or plants on the sidewalks, which are intended to support the shopping experience, or even construction sites, because once again a facade is renewed.

The "Neuer Wall" is also known for his very beautiful Christmas decorations. Thanks to the continued investment in the appearance of the street - the top brands of the world almost seem to fight for a spot to settle here. Made possible by a Public Private Partnership (PPP) between the City of Hamburg and the owners of the property.

Perfect location

The location of the road which is, according to a study, one of the 10 most expensive shopping streets in Europe, is perfect and equally idyllic. In the side streets you can eat right on the Alster canals. At the north-eastern end of the road (towards Alster lake) visitors can enjoy an espresso or a tasty ice cream on the Jungfernstieg, having a great view on the sprawling and vibrant asphalt or water.

How to get there

To reach the "Neuer Wall" is correspondingly simple - whether on foot or by public transport. If you walk from Town Hall or from Jungfernstieg you get there in just a few minutes. A tip: The beautiful "Mellin passage" connects the "Hamburger Alsterarkaden" with the "Neuer Wall"! You can not overlook the "Alsterarkaden", if you stand on the Town Hall Square (white portico on the left side). Practically also is, to take the S-Bahn S1 or S3 and get off at the "Stadthausbrücke". The station is located at the south-western end of the "Neuer wall". From here, it is an ideal start to stroll along this magnificent road towards the Town Hall.

Accessible by:

Best with line S1 / S3 station "Stadthausbrücke" or station "Jungfernstieg" (S- and U-lines)

Parking situation:

Basically, to arrive by car is less advisable. However, there are several car parks in the surroundings (for instance Alsterhaus and Hanseviertel).
