Christmas Market HafenCity / Speicherstadt

Christmas Market HafenCity

The Christmas Market 'HafenCity' in the youngest district of Hamburg.

The HafenCity

You do not know Hamburg already? You know it but did not yet visit the HafenCity? Then it is time to stop by here! The huge area surrounded by water, which for ten years experienced a complete transformation, in itself is already impressive. And in between - within sight of the new Elbe Philharmonic Hall - on the 'Überseeboulevard' the HafenCity Christmas Market is located. It is a small Christmas Market but worth a visit.

Special environment, special presentation

Christmas Market Hafen City HamburgDesigners may have thought: "the HafenCity is an urban development project unique in Germany and Europe - there shall not be a 'normal' Christmas Market here." Besides tradition (like the sale of Christmas trees, lots of sweet treats) you stumble upon modern aspects like an enlightened Advent calendar. Who likes not only strolling can really let off steam here and tighten the skates for a few laps on the rink or participate in a lantern procession. As you look at it: The Christmas Market HafenCity is different - at least because of its location between water, huge buildings and modern and Hanseatic architecture!

Christmas Market with a Business-Factor

A true and somehow typical feature has something to do with the fact that a lot of medium and large businesses found a new home in this area: Every Thursday and Friday after-work events are held on the Christmas Market in the HafenCity for all who work in this vibrant neighborhood and of course for all visitors, too. And something else makes this Christmas Market special. Named companies who operate in the area donate gifts in the Advent season. These gifts are then part of the illuminated advent calendar at the old port authority. Punctually at 6.pm a door of the calendar is beeing opened and a lucky visitor of the Christmas Market in the HafenCity will leave the spot with the gift in its hands!

Opening times (2016):

November 21st till December 30th
11 am till 9 pm, Friday and Saturday till 10 pm

Bus & Rail:

Since December, 9th 2012, the new line (U4) directly carries you to the 'Überseequartier' (for example from the main station or from Jungfernstieg). Alternatively, one can use the U3 and get off at Baumwall. Then stroll along the Sandtorkai till you can see the Christmas Market on the right-hand side (time to walk a good 10 minutes). Or take the bus line 111 (Altona - Reeperbahn - Landungsbrücken - Hafencity).

Further Informations:

General Parking is available in the many parking bays in the streets. In addition, there are several parking garages in the vicinity (also see [german language content]: http://www.hafencity.com/de/faq-mobilitaet/wo-kann-ich-in-der-hafencity-mein-auto-parken-.html)
